None of these are required. Takedown scores and records with just an iPad. These are the add-ons coaches find most useful, grouped by what you want to do.
Recording video
- A tripod with an iPad mount, or a table stand, so the camera sees the whole mat and the scorer never holds or pans the iPad. See Recording Match Video.
- A USB-C webcam, so someone else can run the camera while the scorer keeps the iPad at the table. Tested and working: Logitech StreamCam, Sony ZV-1F. Tested and not working: Elgato Facecam. Requires an iPad with a USB-C port. See Using an External Camera.
Better sound
- A USB-C microphone, wired or wireless with a USB-C receiver. Current examples: Hollyland Lark M2S (USB-C version), DJI Mic Mini and DJI Mic 2 with the USB-C mobile receiver, Rode Wireless Micro. Bluetooth microphones such as AirPods don't work for Takedown video. See Recording Video with an External Microphone.
Scoreboard
- An HDMI adapter and cable to connect the iPad to a TV or monitor. Lightning iPads: the Apple Lightning to HDMI adapter only. USB-C iPads: this adapter is known to work.
- Or an Apple TV, to put the scoreboard on a TV over AirPlay with no cable.
- A speaker (Bluetooth, HDMI or headphone jack) if the buzzer needs to be louder than the iPad.
- Takedown Advantage, our two-sided scoreboard mount for the tournament table or center of the gym. See Takedown Advantage.
See Setting Up the Scoreboard.
Weigh-ins
- A Befour PS-6615 scale with the Befour Bluetooth module, so weights go straight into Takedown and nobody mistypes a number. See Using a Befour Wireless Scale.
