Habits that keep your data accurate and save time all season.
General
- Keep Takedown updated to the current release.
- Accuracy matters. Your reports and stats are only as good as the scoring behind them.
Internet
- Connect to the internet as often as you can so every iPad stays in sync.
- Gyms often have poor Wi-Fi. Learn to use your phone as a personal hotspot and connect your iPad to it.
My Team
- Write out your team name in full, for example "Central High School," not "CHS."
- Don't include a competition level, like "Varsity," in your team name.
- Write your short name in all capital letters.
- Use a square, high-resolution logo file, not a photo of a logo.
Contacts
- At the start of each season, add new parents or guardians and remove those of wrestlers who have left.
- Enter both an email address and a phone number for each contact.
- Add at least one media contact so you can use Share Box Score with Media.
- Turn on Takedown Primary Contact only for staff who should get emails from LevelChanger.
Seasons
- Include the team or gender in the Season name, for example "2026-27 Boys HS."
- Check that the start and end dates are correct. Events must fall between them.
- Create a separate Season for training, scrimmages, intrasquads and wrestle-offs so they stay out of your competition stats.
Roster and opponent teams
- Download rosters from our online database whenever you can. Trackwrestling rosters include each wrestler's MWC and MWW.
- Add opponent teams before you build your schedule.
- Add wrestler photos and parents or guardians early in the season.
- Add opponent logos only if you use the scoreboard or lineup handout.
Schedule and events
- Enter your whole schedule as early as you can.
- Use a Dual Meet Tournament for tris, quads and dual tournaments, so you enter the event roster and weigh-ins once.
- Record weigh-ins for every event.
- In a tournament, add your wrestlers to the event roster at their weight class, and record wrestler and team placements afterward.
Practices
- Set practices to repeat weekly, then adjust individual days as needed.
- Take attendance at every practice.
- Save practice plans you reuse as templates in the Practice Planner.
Scoring
- Use Override rarely. It has two legitimate uses: scoring awarded after the official signals time out, and a defensive pin.
- In a tournament, set the Round and Bracket for each match.
- Start the match clock in every period, even when entering a match from a paper scorebook.
- To track takedown attempts, turn on Settings > Scoring > Score shots before the season starts.
