About Takedown
What is Takedown Scoring and Stats?
An iPad app for wrestling programs. It scores matches, records video, tracks weigh-ins, attendance and equipment, builds statistical reports, and shares results with wrestlers, parents, fans and media. It does not run tournament brackets.
Who makes it?
LevelChanger LLC. About us.
Who uses it?
High school, college, middle school and club programs. Since 2012, more than 3,000 teams have scored more than 1.3 million matches and recorded more than 500,000 videos with Takedown.
Is Takedown part of Trackwrestling, FloWrestling or my state association?
No. Takedown is independent, and your data is for your team. It is not part of any official record.
Pricing and buying
What does it cost?
Takedown is a free download. Managing your team, reports and reviewing video are free. A subscription adds scoring and video recording:
- Scoring + Video Recording: $299.99 per year
- Scoring Only: $149.99 per year
Details: What a Subscription Includes and Costs.
Can I try it first?
Yes. Every new subscription starts with a 7-day free trial that includes scoring and video recording. Start it in Settings > Takedown Store. Cancel more than 24 hours before the trial ends and you won't be charged.
Can I buy directly from LevelChanger instead of the App Store?
Yes, if you're a new customer who hasn't had a free trial. In Settings > Takedown Store, tap Continue with LevelChanger. Buying directly gets one Scoring + Video Recording subscription, paid by card. See Buying a Subscription or Starting a Free Trial.
Do I need a subscription for each iPad or each team?
No. One subscription covers every iPad signed in to your Takedown account and every affiliated team (boys, girls, middle school, club) at no extra cost.
Can I pay with a purchase order or check? Can I get an invoice or W-9?
Purchase orders and checks aren't accepted. Direct buyers get an invoice and receipt by email after each payment, and a W-9 on request. App Store buyers get a receipt from Apple. See Paying as a School.
Are there any other costs?
No. Optional hardware, like the Takedown Advantage scoreboard mount, is sold separately.
My subscription isn't working. What should I do?
Connect to the internet, then open Settings > Takedown Store and check the status shown. If it still looks wrong, tap Help > Ask For Help. More help: Managing an App Store Subscription or Managing a Direct LevelChanger Subscription.
Can I move an App Store subscription to another Apple Account?
No. Apple doesn't allow it, so buy with an Apple Account that belongs to your program rather than one person. See Apple Account and Payment Methods.
iPads, Macs and internet
What do I need to run Takedown?
An iPad running iOS 18.6 or later. Takedown is not available for iPhone.
Does it run on a Mac?
Yes, on Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later), from the Mac App Store. Video recording and notifications aren't available on a Mac.
Can several iPads use our account at the same time?
Yes. Sign in to the same Takedown account on each iPad. Data syncs between them automatically when they're online.
Do I need an internet connection?
Not to score. An iPad that's already set up opens, scores and builds reports offline, and syncs when it reconnects. You need internet to sign in on a new iPad, to download rosters, and to use the Takedown Store, Takedown LIVE and YouTube upload.
I'm still on Takedown 3.5. What happens?
Takedown 3.5.24 is the final 3.5 release, and support ends 31 March 2027. Update to Takedown 4.0 from the App Store.
Your account and data
Where is my data stored?
In the cloud, with a full copy on each iPad signed in to your account.
Who can see my data?
Only people signed in to your Takedown account. Your state association and other organizations can't. LevelChanger accesses data only to provide support, understand how features are used and improve Takedown.
How do I change our account email or password, or delete the account?
Tap Settings > Account, then Change Email, Reset Password or Delete Account. Use a team email address rather than a personal or work one. Before deleting an account, cancel any subscription, because deleting the account doesn't cancel it.
Seasons, schedules and events
What is a Season?
A container for one period of your program: its schedule, practices, roster, opponents, scored matches, video, weigh-ins and equipment. Changes in one Season don't affect another. A Season has a name, start and end dates, a default style (Folkstyle or Freestyle), weight classes, home location, competition levels and notes. There's no limit on Seasons.
Should JV, girls or club teams have their own Season?
That works well, for example "2026-27 Girls." Or keep one Season and set each event's competition level (Varsity, JV, Freshman, Middle School, Youth or Other), then filter reports by level. Choose a Season's levels under My Team > Seasons > [season] > Edit > Competition Levels.
Do I re-enter my schedule every year?
No. Copy the schedule from an earlier Season and edit it. Takedown doesn't download schedules from Trackwrestling.
What kinds of events are there?
Dual Meet, Dual Meet Tournament (one event that holds several dual meets) and Tournament. Tournaments can use USA Wrestling age divisions. Add an event under My Team > Seasons > [season] > Schedule > +.
How do I set up a dual tournament, tri or quad?
Add a Dual Meet Tournament, then open it and add each opponent under Dual Meets > +. Enter the event roster and weigh-ins once on the tournament.
Can I set expected matchups before the meet?
Yes. Open the dual meet and tap Pairings. You can add exhibitions, copy a lineup from another dual meet, and share or email a lineup handout from there.
Can I record scrimmages without affecting my stats?
Yes. Use a separate Season (for example "Scrimmages"), or score the matches as exhibitions. Reports can leave out a Season, an event or exhibition matches.
Can I add matches from past seasons?
Yes. Create the Season and events, then score the matches from your records.
Rosters, opponents and weight
Can I download rosters?
Yes. Rosters from Trackwrestling and from participating USA Wrestling clubs are in our online database, including college men's and women's teams. Tap My Team > Seasons > [season], then Get [your team] Roster or Get Opponent Teams. Download as many opponent teams from as many states as you like.
Our roster isn't in the database. What now?
Import it from a spreadsheet (CSV) or add wrestlers by hand. See Roster: Import from a File. Only first and last names are required.
What can I record for each wrestler?
Photo, grade or college year, birthdate, phone, email, certification weights (MWC and MWW), descent plan, parents or guardians, equipment issued and returned, and notes.
Do rosters carry over between events?
Yes. Your roster and opponent teams are available in every event in the Season. Removing a wrestler keeps their past matches in your reports.
Do you have weight certification data?
If your team's roster is on Trackwrestling, downloading it brings in each wrestler's certified weight, minimum wrestling weight (MWW) and minimum weight class (MWC). Trackwrestling doesn't supply the certification date, so Takedown uses the Season's start date.
Do I have to enter weigh-ins?
No, but they help. Takedown uses weigh-ins to show who is eligible at each weight and to build weight reports. In an event, tap Weigh In; you can copy weights from another event or use each wrestler's MWC.
Can I create custom weight classes?
Yes. Custom weight classes can be used in any event.
Can I upload results and weigh-ins to Trackwrestling?
Yes. Open the event and tap Upload Results and Weigh-ins to Your Team Trackwrestling Account.
Scoring
How do I start scoring?
In the Scoring tab, tap Select Event and choose the event (for a dual meet tournament, choose the dual meet inside it). Choose the bout with the Pairings icon at the top left, then tap the match clock to start.
Which rules does Takedown follow?
NFHS and NCAA for folkstyle, and freestyle rules for freestyle events. Takedown only enables scoring actions that are legal at that moment, which prevents errors. If you need a disabled action, tap Override, sparingly.
How do I fix a mistake?
Tap Undo to remove the last action; keep tapping to step back further. Undo can reach an earlier period only until the match clock is started in the current period. Start Over erases the whole match. Don't add points to make the score match: here's why.
The Takedown clock doesn't match the official clock. Does it matter?
Use + and − to line it up with the official clock. It isn't required, but an accurate clock gives better stats.
Can I transcribe matches from a paper scorebook or video?
Yes. Start the match clock in each period and enter the scoring. Takedown marks a match as not scored live automatically when it ends with much of the final period left on the clock, and leaves it out of clock-based stats such as Short Time and Riding Time. To change this, open the match and use Edit > Scored Live.
The opponent's wrestler isn't listed. What do I do?
In a dual meet, choose Unknown Wrestler and edit the match later. In a tournament, tap + in the team list to add a team, or open a team and tap + to add a wrestler.
What does Takedown handle during a match?
Injury, blood, recovery and riding time clocks; stalling, cautions and penalties, including progression to disqualification; team penalty points; overtime; choice on restart; and defer. Swipe the scoring grid to move between regulation and overtime.
How is second-period choice set in a dual meet?
Open the dual meet and set your team's Period 2 Choice to Even, Odd or Coin Flip. Takedown then offers choice to the right wrestler in each match.
Is riding time tracked?
For college matches, the riding time clock runs automatically and the riding time point is added when earned, including the NCAA rule on stopping the clock for an offensive infraction. The Riding Time report works for high school matches too.
Can I track takedown attempts?
Yes. Turn on Settings > Scoring > Score shots (off by default) to add a Shot button. Results appear in the Shot Success Rate report and the Leaderboard.
Can I switch to another event in the middle of a match?
No. Finish the match (or tap Start Over) first, then tap the event name at the top of Scoring and choose another event.
Can a match be moved to another event?
Yes, to another event in the same Season with the same style. Open the match and change its event under Edit.
Do you calculate dual meet tiebreakers?
Yes. Tiebreaker criteria are calculated as you score. When a dual meet ends tied, record the official result under Tie Breaker Criteria in the event.
Reports and sharing
Do reports need the internet?
No. Reports are built on the iPad from the data stored there.
What can reports cover?
Anything from one match to several Seasons. Filters narrow reports by Season, style, competition level, event type, event, date range and wrestler. See Reports: Filters and the report overview.
How do I share a report?
Tap the envelope icon to email the report as a PDF to the groups or people you choose (Apple Mail must be set up). Or use the share button for PDF, image, CSV or text, depending on the report, to print, save to iCloud Drive, Dropbox or Google Drive, or post to social media.
Do you have the box score format newspapers use?
Yes. Open the event and tap Share Box Score with Media to email it to your media contacts. See Reports: Box Score.
Can the referee sign the scorebook?
Yes. See Reports: Scorebook.
Can I post results on our state's website?
Yes. It's your data, so post it anywhere.
Takedown LIVE and scoreboard
What is Takedown LIVE?
A free web app that shows each match's scoring as it happens, with the same scoring grid and notation as Takedown. Fans open it in any browser; there's nothing to download. Turn it on in Settings > Takedown LIVE.
Does Takedown post to Facebook or X?
No. Automatic posting to X is temporarily unavailable in Takedown 4.0, and Facebook doesn't allow automatic posting. Use Takedown LIVE for live results, and share reports as images to any social app.
Can I show a scoreboard on a TV?
Yes. Connect the iPad to any display with an HDMI input, using the AV adapter that fits your iPad, or wirelessly through Apple TV or another AirPlay receiver. Set what it shows, including next match, team scores, wrestler photos and ads, in Settings > Scoreboard.
Practices, contacts and email
Can I plan practices?
Yes. Practices can repeat weekly and have start and end times. The Practice Planner builds a plan from sections and activities, saves templates, and shares the plan as a PDF or email. Find it under My Team > Seasons > [season] > Practices.
Can I track attendance and practice weigh-ins?
Yes, from each practice. A Befour Bluetooth scale can record weights directly (Settings > Bluetooth Scale).
Can I email wrestlers, parents and staff?
Yes. Add parents or guardians to each wrestler, and coaches or media under My Team > Contacts. Then use Send Mail in the Season, or any envelope icon, to email whole groups or individuals.
Can families subscribe to our schedule?
Yes. Tap Share Calendar in the Season to share a link or QR code. Practices and events appear in their calendar app and update automatically.
Do you track equipment?
Yes. Record what each wrestler is issued and returns, and see what's still out in the Equipment Tracking report.
