Most problems coaches report are already fixed in the latest version of Takedown. Keeping Takedown and your iPad's software current, on every iPad your staff uses, prevents most of them.
Check which version you have
In Takedown, tap Settings > About. Takedown Version shows the version with the build number in parentheses, for example 4.1.0(721). Compare it with the version on the Takedown Scoring and Stats App Store page.
Update Takedown now
- Open the App Store on the iPad.
- Tap your profile picture or the account icon at the top of the screen.
- Tap App Updates, then tap Update next to Takedown Scoring and Stats, or Update All.
If Takedown isn't listed, it's already up to date. Your data is kept through the update.
Turn on automatic app updates
- Open Settings and tap Apps.
- Tap App Store.
- Turn on App Updates.
The iPad then installs new versions of Takedown on its own.
Update iPadOS
Takedown 4.1 requires iOS 18.5 or later. To update:
- Plug the iPad into power and connect to Wi-Fi.
- Open Settings > General > Software Update.
- If an update is available, tap Download and Install.
To have it happen on its own, tap Automatic Updates on the same screen and turn on Automatically Install. An iPad that can't update to iOS 18 can run Takedown 3.5 until March 31, 2027; see Choosing an iPad for Takedown (and iPhones and Macs).
Keep every iPad on the same version
When your staff signs in to the same account on several iPads, update them all to the latest version. iPads on different versions can disagree about features and data. See Using Takedown on More Than One iPad.
Before match day
Update a day or two before an Event, while you're on a good internet connection, not at the gym. Gym networks are often slow or blocked, and an update takes a few minutes. Open Takedown once afterward so it's ready.
