If Takedown opens and then closes on its own, or freezes on the startup screen, work through these steps in order. Stop when Takedown stays open.
1. Update iOS and Takedown
Takedown 4.0 requires iOS 18.6 or later, and most startup problems are fixed by updating.
- Update iOS: Update your iPhone or iPad.
- Update Takedown: How to manually update apps from the App Store.
2. Restart the iPad
Turn the iPad fully off and on again, then open Takedown. Apple's steps: Restart your iPad.
3. Check free storage
An iPad that's nearly full can't open apps reliably. Check in the iPad's Settings > General > iPad Storage and free up space if less than a few GB is available. Apple's steps: How to check the storage on your iPhone and iPad. Match videos you've already uploaded or backed up are usually the quickest win.
4. Delete and reinstall Takedown
Your data is stored in the cloud, so reinstalling doesn't delete your account, your data or your subscription. Match videos stay in the iPad's Photos app.
- If Takedown will open at all, connect to the internet and leave it open for a minute so recent changes finish syncing. Changes that haven't synced are lost when you delete the app.
- Delete Takedown: Delete apps on your iPhone or iPad.
- Download Takedown Scoring and Stats from the App Store, open it, tap Log In and sign in with your program's Takedown email and password. Don't tap Sign Up, which creates a separate account.
- Stay connected to the internet while Getting your data ready... appears.
If you see "Database error"
If Takedown shows a screen that starts with Database error, tap Contact Us on that screen. It starts an email to us with the details we need. Send it and we'll get back to you.
Still closing?
