Messages you may see when uploading to or playing from YouTube, and what to do about each. Takedown shows the message exactly as written below.
"You need to sign in again to Google" or "Token expired"
Your YouTube sign-in has lapsed. Tap Sign In and choose the team account again. If it keeps happening, check that the iPad's date and time are set automatically (iPad Settings > General > Date & Time), and that nobody has removed Takedown's access in the Google Account's linked apps page: Manage links between your Google Account and apps from other developers.
"The user has exceeded the number of videos they may upload"
Your channel has hit YouTube's daily upload limit. It isn't a Takedown limit, and you don't lose anything: the uploads that didn't go through are still on the iPad. Either wait 24 hours and tap Upload All again, or raise the limit by getting Advanced features for the channel (phone verification plus ID or video verification, or channel history) in YouTube Studio under Settings > Channel > Feature eligibility. Google's pages: Common uploading errors and Get access to intermediate and advanced features.
"Takedown has exceeded its YouTube quota for today"
This one is on us. Google gives Takedown a daily allowance for all of its users' uploads, and it ran out. It resets at midnight Pacific time, and nothing is lost; upload again tomorrow. Please email a screenshot to support@levelchanger.com so we can ask Google for more.
"Error trying to get channels from YouTube" or "No Channel"
The Google Account you signed in with doesn't have a YouTube channel yet, or you didn't allow everything Takedown asked for at sign-in. Create the channel (Create a YouTube channel), then in Manage Video sign out, sign in again, and allow all of the requested access. See Setting Up Your Team's YouTube Channel.
"YouTube Permissions Denied"
Takedown's access to the channel was revoked, either in Takedown's Settings > Video > Revoke YouTube Permissions or from the Google Account. Sign in again from Manage Video.
"The video cannot be played because it can't be embedded"
Takedown plays YouTube video in an embedded player, and embedding has been turned off for the video or channel. Turn it back on in YouTube Studio: Content, tick the videos, Edit > Embedding > Allow, then Update videos. Google's steps: Make bulk changes to videos.
"The video could not be found" or "An unknown error occurred"
The video isn't on the iPad and YouTube can't supply it. Usually it was deleted from YouTube, or its privacy was changed to Private.
- In Takedown, tap My Team > Schedule, the Event, Matches, the match, then Edit to see the YouTube ID.
- In a browser, open
youtube.com/watch?v=followed by that ID. If the video plays, set its privacy to Unlisted on YouTube. If it doesn't, the video is gone from YouTube. - If the video is gone, clear the YouTube ID in the match (tap Edit, delete the ID, tap Done) so the error stops, and re-upload from the iPad that recorded it if the original is still there.
The wrestler's photo didn't upload as the thumbnail
YouTube requires the channel's phone number to be verified before an app can set custom thumbnails. Verify it in YouTube Studio (Get access to intermediate and advanced features) and tap Try Again, or tap Disable Photos Upload to skip thumbnails. The video itself uploaded fine.
The scoring transcript doesn't show on the YouTube website
Below the video, open the description and click Show transcript. If the transcript panel shows more than one track, pick English -- Scoring transcript by Takedown. Google's page: View video transcripts.
