Most matches get recorded by someone, often a parent or friend with a phone, even when no one is scoring them in Takedown. You can still get those matches into Takedown: score the match from the video, then attach the video so it plays with the match and goes on your team's YouTube channel.
1. Score the match from the video
- Make sure the Event is on your schedule: My Team > Seasons > [Season] > Schedule. If it isn't, tap + to add it; see Scheduling Dual Meets, Tournaments and Dual Meet Tournaments.
- Score the match in Scoring the same way you would live, while you watch the video.
- Start the match clock in every period, then enter the actions. Starting the clock turns on Takedown's scoring logic. Scoring with the clock stopped and using Override isn't supported.
Run the clock along with the video, just as you would at the mat, and pause it whenever you pause the video. Takedown treats the match exactly like one scored live, riding time and short time included.
2. Attach the video to the match
Open the match: tap My Team > Seasons > [Season] > Schedule, the Event, Matches, then the match, and tap Edit. Then use whichever of these fits where the video is.
The video was taken on an iPhone
- On the iPhone, open the video, tap the Share button, tap AirDrop and choose your Takedown iPad. The iPad needs Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on and has to be nearby. The video lands in the iPad's Photos app. Apple's steps: Use AirDrop on iPad.
- On the match's Edit screen, tap Attach Video from Photos and choose the video. The button appears when the match has no YouTube ID.
- Tap Done (the checkmark in iOS 26 and later).
- Open the Event's Manage Video and upload it like any other match video. Takedown puts it on your team's YouTube channel with the standard title and description. See Uploading Video to YouTube.
A video saved to the iPad's Photos app any other way, for example from Files or Messages, works the same from step 2.
The video was taken on another phone or camera
Getting a video from an Android phone or a camera into the iPad's Photos app is often fiddly, so it's usually easier to go through YouTube.
- Upload the video to your team's YouTube channel (or ask the person who took it to upload it), set to Unlisted or Public.
- On YouTube, open the video and copy the ID from the address, the part after
v=. Foryoutube.com/watch?v=aqz-KE-bpKQthe ID isaqz-KE-bpKQ. - On the match's Edit screen, enter it in YouTube ID.
- Tap Done.
The video plays in Takedown as long as it stays on YouTube and isn't set to Private. A video on someone else's channel stops playing if they delete it or make it private.
Removing a video
For a video attached from Photos, open the match, tap Edit, then Detach Video. For a YouTube video, clear the YouTube ID and save.
