Plug a USB-C video camera into the iPad and Takedown records from it instead of the iPad's camera. Someone else can run the camera while the scorer keeps the iPad flat at the table, and you can use a better lens and a real tripod.
What you need
- An iPad with a USB-C port.
- A camera that streams video over USB-C (a "UVC" webcam or a camera with a webcam mode) at 480p, 720p or 1080p, connected directly to the iPad with a USB 3 cable. No hub or capture card.
- A tripod or mount for the camera.
Cameras we've tested that work: Logitech StreamCam, Sony ZV-1F. Tested and doesn't work: Elgato Facecam. Major brands are the safer bet; the only sure test is to plug one in.
How it works in Takedown
- If an external camera is connected, Takedown uses it. You can't pick the iPad's own camera while one is plugged in.
- Plug the camera in before you start the clock on the first period. Plugging or unplugging during a match stops that match's recording.
- If you need to unplug, do it between matches. Takedown switches back to the iPad's rear camera.
Everything else, from resolution to where the video is saved, works the same as Recording Match Video.
