Video is the one thing in Takedown that doesn't sync between your iPads on its own. Scores, rosters and schedules do; a recording stays on the iPad that made it until you upload it. Uploading puts the match video on your team's YouTube channel, which makes it playable on every iPad in your program, shareable by link, and safe to delete from the iPad.
Upload the video for an Event
- Upload from the iPad that recorded the video; that's where the file is.
- Connect to fast Wi-Fi. A dual meet at 1080p is several gigabytes.
- Tap My Team > Schedule, tap the Event, then Manage Video.
- Tap Upload All, or tap the upload button on a single match. Each match shows its progress.
- Keep Takedown open until the uploads finish. Leaving Manage Video asks whether to stop the uploads.
Each video gets a title with the weight class, wrestlers, Event date and result; a description of the Event; the wrestler's photo as a thumbnail (if you've turned that on); and a scoring transcript as a caption track, which is what makes ScoreSeek work on YouTube. Uploads are Unlisted.
Fix a title after a correction
If you correct a score or a wrestler after uploading, tap Update Titles in Manage Video to push the new titles to YouTube.
Attach a video you uploaded yourself
A video uploaded to YouTube outside Takedown can still be attached to a scored match:
- On YouTube, open the video and copy the ID from the address, the part after
v=. Foryoutube.com/watch?v=aqz-KE-bpKQthe ID isaqz-KE-bpKQ. - In Takedown, tap My Team > Schedule, the Event, Matches, then the match.
- Tap Edit, enter the YouTube ID, tap Done.
The video must be Unlisted or Public on YouTube to play in Takedown.
What the symbols mean
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Camera (Schedule, Matches, Roster) | Video was recorded for this match. It doesn't say which iPad has it. |
| Filmstrip (Manage Video) | The original video is on this iPad. |
| YouTube logo (Manage Video, Video Room) | The match has a YouTube video. It plays as long as the video is still on YouTube and not Private. |
| Takedown LIVE (Manage Video) | The video is published on Takedown LIVE. |
Upload stopped with an error?
See Fixing YouTube Problems. The most common are the daily upload limit and a sign-in that needs renewing.
