Takedown scores a match the way a scorebook does, with the rules built in. The steps below cover a folkstyle match; freestyle differs only in the buttons.
Before the first whistle
- Tap Scoring. If the header says Select Event, tap it and choose the Event. See Selecting the Event to Score.
- Load the match. In a dual meet, tap Weight Class in the header and pick the weight; in a tournament, tap Pairing. If pairings aren't set up, tap each wrestler's name on the scoresheet and pick the wrestler, or Unknown Wrestler for an opponent you don't have on a roster.
- Check colors. Tap a wrestler's name to change green and red; the other wrestler switches automatically.
- Turn on video if you're recording: tap the camera.
During the match
- Tap the match clock when the referee starts the period. Video recording starts with the first-period clock.
- Tap the scoring button on the side of the wrestler who scored, as the referee signals it: Takedown, Escape, Reverse, Near Fall (then the points), or Penalty/Other.
- Stop the clock when the referee does. Injury, blood and recovery time go on that wrestler's Clocks.
- End the period. When time runs out, tap End Period. Before the next period, set the start position: tap the position icon in the row of the wrestler who has the choice and pick top, bottom, neutral or defer.
Mistakes happen; Undo takes back the last action. See Fixing Scoring Mistakes.
Overtime
If the score is tied after three periods, End Period takes you into overtime: SV (sudden victory), then TB-1 and TB-2 (tiebreakers), then UTB (ultimate tiebreaker) in high school; college runs SV and TB rounds with riding time. The period lengths come from Settings > Periods.
Ending the match
- Pin or Tech Fall: tap the button for the winner. Takedown stops the clock and records the time. With the official-time option on (Settings > Scoring), it asks you for the referee's time.
- Decision: when the final period ends, tap End Match.
- Default or disqualification: Penalty/Other on the side of the wrestler who defaults or is disqualified.
Then tap Move On. The match is saved, the video is saved to Photos, Takedown LIVE updates, and the next pairing loads.
Forfeits
Tap the name of the wrestler who isn't wrestling and choose Forfeit, then pick the wrestler who receives it. For a double forfeit, see Scoring a Dual Meet.
