This article is for subscriptions bought through the App Store. Apple handles billing, renewals, receipts and refunds for these. If you bought directly from LevelChanger, see Managing a Direct LevelChanger Subscription.
Check your subscription
In Takedown, tap Settings > Takedown Store. Each subscription you have shows a green checkmark with one of these:
- Your subscription will renew automatically on and a date: you're all set.
- Auto-renewal is off. Your subscription expires on and a date: you've cancelled. That feature works until the date shown.
- There is a billing problem: see Fix a payment problem below.
Your subscription belongs to your Takedown account, so it works on every iPad signed in to that account, whichever Apple Account is on each iPad.
Cancel or turn off auto-renewal
- In Takedown, tap Settings > Takedown Store > Manage Subscriptions.
- Choose the subscription and tap Cancel Subscription.
You can also cancel from the iPad Settings app (tap your name, then Subscriptions) or on the web. Use the iPad or web sign-in for the Apple Account that bought the subscription. Apple's steps: Cancel a subscription from Apple.
To avoid being charged when a free trial ends, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. After you cancel a paid subscription, it keeps working until its expiration date. Everything else in Takedown keeps working, and your data stays.
Renewal and price
- Subscriptions last 365 days and renew automatically. Apple charges the renewal within 24 hours before the expiration date.
- Subscriptions in good standing renew at your original purchase price, even if prices go up. To stay in good standing, don't cancel, and keep your Apple Account's payment method current.
- Apple sends renewal notices and billing messages to the email address of the Apple Account that bought the subscription. Make sure someone reads that inbox.
- An App Store subscription stays with the Apple Account that bought it. Apple can't move it to another Apple Account.
Receipts and purchase history
Apple emails a receipt to the Apple Account's email address after each purchase and renewal. To find past receipts, see View your purchase history for the App Store and other Apple media services.
Refunds
Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases. LevelChanger can't issue them. See Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple.
Fix a payment problem
If a renewal payment fails, Takedown shows There is a billing problem and the date your subscription will end. Takedown keeps working until that date while Apple retries the payment.
- Update your payment method: If you need to change or update your Apple Account payment method
- If Apple shows "billing problem with previous purchase": If a message says 'billing problem with a previous purchase' or 'verification required'
Takedown shows an expired subscription after a renewal
- Make sure the iPad is connected to the internet, then close and reopen Takedown.
- Check Settings > Takedown Store again.
- If it still shows expired, check your Apple purchase history (link above) to confirm the renewal went through, then email support@levelchanger.com with your school name and the renewal date.
Switching to a direct LevelChanger subscription
Switching an App Store subscription to a direct LevelChanger subscription isn't available at this time. If you're interested, email support@levelchanger.com.
What LevelChanger knows about your purchase
Very little. Apple tells us which subscription your Takedown account has, when it was bought, when it expires and whether it will renew. Apple doesn't share your name, Apple Account email, address, payment details or the amount charged. That's why billing questions for App Store purchases go to Apple.
