Roster Sync keeps your Roster and your Opponent Teams current with the online database without a refresh button. It replaces the refresh icon from Takedown 4.0 and earlier.
How it works
When you get a team from the database, you subscribe to it. The database is updated roughly once a day, and each change reaches Takedown on its own. What happens then depends on one switch per Season:
- Automatically Update My Team Roster or Automatically Update Opponent Rosters on (the default): the change is applied as soon as it arrives. A row briefly shows "Updating…".
- Off: the row shows "Update available" and an Apply Updates button appears in the toolbar. Nothing changes until you tap it.
The switches are at the bottom of Get [your team] Roster and Get Opponent Teams, one for your Roster and one for Opponent Teams, and they apply to the Season you're in. Updates that arrive while Takedown is closed are handled the next time it opens.
What an update changes
Wrestlers added on the source are added to your Roster, and names, grades and certified weights are updated. A wrestler dropped from the source stays on your Roster until you remove them; see Editing Wrestlers. Anything you entered yourself in Takedown that the source doesn't have, such as a photo, phone, email, parents, equipment or notes, is kept.
Uncertified wrestlers
Include Uncertified Wrestlers, next to the update switch, controls whether wrestlers without a weight certification come down with the roster. It's on by default for your own Roster and off by default for Opponent Teams. Leave it on for USA Wrestling clubs, whose rosters carry no weight data. Turn it off for your own high school or college Roster if your state doesn't let uncertified wrestlers compete and you'd rather not see them.
Stopping updates
Swipe left on a source and tap Stop Updates (your Roster) or Unsubscribe (an Opponent Team). For your Roster, the wrestlers stay; only the updates stop. For an Opponent Team, Takedown keeps the team if you have matches against it this Season (it just stops updating) and removes it if you don't. Unsubscribing from a whole state or governing body removes all of its teams from the Season, except teams with matches, which are kept and stop updating.
Not seeing an update?
- The iPad needs internet to receive updates. Open Takedown while connected and give it a minute.
- Check that the source is still listed under Roster Sources, or the team under Individual Teams Subscriptions, and that the automatic switch is on or you've tapped Apply Updates.
- The change may not be on the source yet. Rosters on Trackwrestling are maintained by each program; our database reflects what's there.
