Opponent Teams are the teams you compete against, with their wrestlers. A team has to be on the Season's Opponent Teams list before you can schedule a dual meet against it, and its wrestlers have to be on the team before you can pair or score them. Get them from the online database whenever you can; typed-in names rarely match what Trackwrestling expects when you upload results.
Getting Opponent Teams from the database
Tap My Team > Seasons, the Season, then Get Opponent Teams. Two kinds of subscription:
- A whole state (for college, a whole governing body such as NCAA or NAIA): tap Add State, pick the season and level, then the state. Every team at that level comes down, and new teams are added as they appear. This is the easy choice for a tournament, and you can subscribe to several states.
- Individual teams: tap Add Teams, pick the season, level and state, check the teams you want (search by name at the top), then tap Subscribe.
Either way the teams and their wrestlers download now and stay current afterward; see Roster Sync. Each team comes with its logo, if the database has one, and its address. Include Uncertified Wrestlers at the bottom is off by default for Opponent Teams; turn it on for USA Wrestling clubs.
From a previous Season
Tap Copy Opponent Team Rosters on the Season, pick the Season to copy from and the teams. Copy Rosters Along With Opponent Teams brings their wrestlers too; leave it off if you'll subscribe to the teams and let the database supply current wrestlers.
Adding a team by hand
Tap Opponent Teams, then +. Enter the team name, a short name (all caps works best on reports and the scoreboard) and the state. Add wrestlers from the team's screen with +; a first and last name is enough. If a team with the same name already exists in that state, Takedown offers to add the existing team to this Season, or to merge the two.
At a dual meet, an opposing wrestler who isn't on the team can be added from the Event's Weigh In; see Event Roster and Weigh In.
Finding a team
With a state subscribed, the Opponent Teams list is long. Type part of the team's name, short name or state in the Search Teams box at the top of the list.
Logo, location and conference
Open the team, tap Edit:
- Logo: tap Add Logo. If the database has the team's logo, Use Roster Logo is offered; otherwise choose a photo. Logos appear on reports, the scoreboard and Takedown LIVE.
- Location: the team's home address, used as the default location for away dual meets against it. It's filled in from the database when available; otherwise search for the address or use your current location, and tap the red x to clear it. The address shows under the team's name, and tapping it opens Apple Maps, or offers Google Maps if that's installed.
- In Conference Team: marks conference opponents so reports can be filtered to conference or non-conference matches.
Name, short name, state, logo and conference setting are shared by every Season that has the team; wrestlers are per Season.
Removing a team
A subscribed team is removed by unsubscribing; see Roster Sync. A team you added by hand is removed by opening it, tapping Edit, scrolling down and tapping Delete Team. A team with matches in this Season, or on this Season's schedule, can't be deleted; remove it from the schedule first. A team with matches in other Seasons is removed from this Season only.
